3 Ways Social Media Defines Blog Writing Success

As tempting as it may be to create blog posts that are all about business and the professional topic of your blog, the mistake would be in not allowing your reader to be defined by your personal interests and ideas. Readers want to KNOW who they’re reading about and why… It’s always easier to figure that out, if they can find enough commonality with the author to bring a natural attraction and friendship into play.

Be friendly. Be yourself. Be likable.

Build relationships first…

Real people want to know other real people. Don’t be afraid to share your opinion. There may be some who disagree with you, and they may choose not to remain your friend, but there will be others who either agree with you or find value in the fact that you HAVE an opinion worthy of being stated. Be worthy of the opinions you state. Don’t say it if you won’t stand behind it. More than anything else, be real and invite discussion because that’s where relationships come from, aliances are created and friendships are formed. Your blog posts should encourage others to make a comment, leave an opinion, or add a concept before the reader leaves. In fact, it’s always nice to ask a question at the end of your post that would encourage a reader to comment with their views.

Offer solutions without reservation…

You know how to solve the problem? Say so. Be the first to offer the solution with a link if you have it, to your website or another. You’ll be a welcome part of any discussion if you share your knowledge and solutions. The biggest part of this is not to be the “know it all” but to be the one who “knows”. When you share your knowledge freely and allow people to be helped by what you know, giving information freely, you share your expertise and generate an expectation about yourself. Others begin to recognize that you’re the ‘go to person’ they want on their team. That’s when you gain recognition for what you know. People begin to recommend you to those who ask questions. Writing a blog post with a solution in the post is a great way to give away information that can generate interactive discussion in the comments below your post. Invite discussion of solutions offered in your blog posts.

Openly promote and encourage others…

I can’t say enough about what a benefit it is to do business with some people online. Literally, I can’t say it often enough. They’re amazing to work with, and they’re always motivating, uplifting and encouraging… Those people are often on the tip of my posts, because they deserve to be — THOSE people include anyone who provides excellent services, great products and amazing relationships. When a person online hesitates to promote others, they’re seen as selfish and egotistical. You don’t even need to be paid to promote others… Just do it.

Promotion of others comes back. When you do an amazing job writing about other people on your blog, either in an interview or a discussion of their services, people promote you. In fact, when you promote others whether you do anything else for them or not, they’ll remember and they WILL promote you.

Don’t get caught up in the rush of multi-social media and blog posting… Be yourself and be real. Get involved in the media you choose to participate in, post frequent new updated blog posts and ideas on your blog and share yourself with the world. For more information about how to share, I want to encourage you to get involved…
